11º Congresso Nacional de Bibliotecários, Arquivistas e Documentalistas: “Integração, Acesso e Valor Social“ @ Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisboa
Out 17_Out 20 todo o dia

Fourteenth International Conference On Grey Literature, National Research Council @ Rome, Italy
Nov 29@9:45_Nov 30@10:45

Innovation is a process manifested in and through grey literature. Both have their origins in knowledge generation and both demonstrate value for government, academics, business and industry through their uses and applications. In a way, innovation and grey literature are two sides of the same coinage. Innovation is the catalyst for positive change and grey literature is the measure of benchmarks in the further process of research and development. Innovation and grey literature share parallel life cycles in which early growth is relatively slow until their use and application become recognized both within and later beyond their community of origin.Expected top-line growth and increased bottom-line results are achieved in part through new technologies, through redeployment and enhancement of existing products and services, which at times are unachieved. Nevertheless, the process shared by innovation and grey literature carries on. The goal of the Fourteenth International Conference on Grey Literature seeks to track the process of innovation by tracing the research life cycle and observing its convergence in the field of grey literature.

Making Data Count: Research data availability and research assessment
Berlin, Neue Mälzerei

http://makingdatacount.eventbrite.com

The possibilities of digital research have altered the production, publication and use of research results. Academic research practice and culture are changing or have already been transformed, but to a large degree the system of academic recognition has not yet adapted to the practices and possibilities of digital research. This applies especially to research data, which are increasingly produced, managed, published and archived, but hardly play a role in practices of research as-sessment.

Aim
The aim of the workshop is to bring experts and stakeholders from research institutions, universities, scholarly societies and funding agencies together in order to review, discuss and build on possibilities to implement the culture of sharing and to integrate publication of data into research assessment procedures.

Practical Information and Hotel
We can recommend booking a room at the NH hotel Alexanderplatz which is very close. This workshop is free of charge and Knowledge Exchange will cover the costs of lunches, coffees and teas. Registration is on a first come come first served basis.

Abr 4@8:00_Abr 5@17:00

EURODOC is the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers.

http://lisbon2013.abic-online.org

Every year EURODOC convenes to an international conference for young researchers. The aim of the EURODOC conference is to provide the framework for young European researchers to meet with European political and economic leaders and to engage in fruitful discussions on the construction of the European Research and Higher Education Areas.

The following EURODOC Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon between the 4th and 5th April 2013.

EURODOC and ABIC aim to create an in-depth debate over a number of key issues the European Union (EU)
identified for European research within the areas of sustainable innovation and knowledge-based economy. Specifically, the role of early stage researchers in tackling issues like:

  1. Global warming, the tightening of energy supplies, security, ageing societies, pandemics and public health;
  2. The development of research helping to integrate citizens living in the EU by respecting differences, while reducing all sorts of communication barriers, discrimination, or marginalisation, that is, by contributing to consolidate a common European identity.

The EU has created programmes such as “Horizon 2020” as a means of boosting research, innovation and competitiveness in Europe. Horizon 2020 brings together EU research and innovation funding under a single programme. It focuses on turning scientific breakthroughs into innovative products and services providing citizens with business opportunities and better living conditions. At the same time it simplifies rules and procedures to attract more high level researchers and a broader range of innovative businesses.

Another example concerns the EU programme “Europe 2020”, where Europe’s growth strategy is outlined. Europe 2020 aims at developing tools to reach a more inclusive and sustainable economy being its goals set on employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and climate/energy. One of its structural axis is the framework “Energy 2020” containing five pillars for action: 1) increasing the use of renewable energy; 2) developing the internal integrated market; 3) ameliorating safety and security in terms of production and transportation; 4) promoting research and innovation policies; 5) bettering the exploitation of geopolitical strength.

Having this in mind, EURODOC 2013 annual conference will include four plenary sessions with distinguished speakers from various European, international and national institutions and organisations. The topics are as follows:

  • Plenary Session I: The EU 2020 Framework Programmes for Research and Sustainable Innovation
  • Plenary Session II: Growing in a healthy environment: New trends in research
  • Plenary Session III: Working and researching within the framework of a sustainable society
  • Plenary Sessions IV: Science, Communication and Social Change

The two last days of the Conference, 6th and 7th April 2013, are solely dedicated to EURODOC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Administrative Board’s annual report, will be presented by the President; the presentation of the financial report, including the accounts, will be given by the Treasurer; it will also take place the ratification of decisions taken by the Administrative Board since the last General Meeting and the election of new a Governing Board and Secretariat.

ELAG is the annual conference of the European Libraries Automation Group.

ELAG is Europe’s premier conference on the application and development of information technology in libraries and documentation centres. The annual ELAG (European Library Automation Group) Conference expects over 200 participants from all over the world (mainly library and IT professionals and researchers).

This year’s tag line will be ‘Inside Out Library’: while ELAG 2013 will still be focused on specific, library related IT issues, we want to expand the aim and target audience by addressing innovative topics such as Open Access. ELAG 2013 will also host two pre-conferences: THATCamp, which focuses on researchers in the digital humanities, and an OpenAIRE workshop.

ELAG 2013, the 37th ELAG conference, will take place in Ghent, Belgium from May 28th until May 31st 2013.
